This year's annual meet, the tenth anniversary of the "Reading Meet", will go down in history as "The Year of the Pace Car."  Thanks to the efforts of several members of the SVXWN over the course of more than a year, we were able to bring the Pace Car to Reading, at last.  It was "the crowning jewel of our celebration" and a first for the SVX community.

This event was not made public until the actual "unveiling" as the certainty of its appearance was still questionable until it actually arrived.  The reaction of the crowd was not the cheering we had anticipated, but more a hushed sense of awe.

Along with the Pace Car, Phoenix Performance brought with them one of the Legacy 2.5GT spec-B road racing cars for us to display (and examine.)  It added yet another element to our already spectacular meet.

SVX owners came from far and wide, they flew in from Washington state, Texas, Colorado and California; and drove in from as far away as Oregon and even Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada)!  We counted a total of 51 SVX's, including the Pace Car, that made an appearance at one time or another throughout the weekend.  A total of 79 people signed in, although I suspect there were a few more who did not sign the list.  As usual, we saw a lot of old friends and made some new ones, and the weather (during the day) couldn't have been better (although the nights were doggone chilly!)  The founder and chief administrator of the Network (Chris) made his first appearance at this meet, and we all got to express our appreciation for his hard work and vision.

The highlight of last year's meet, the SVX Raffle, unfortunately did not come to fruition this year, due to more pressing obligations affecting those members who donated their time and expertise last year.  We hope to have another for next year.

In spite of that, we were still able to raise over $800.00 for the Network, after covering the cost of having the Pace Car brought to us.

There were two side trips planned -- one to the Yuengling Brewery on Friday which was enjoyed by all who went, and one to the Hershey Antique Auto Museum on Saturday, which was cancelled due to lack of sufficient interest.  I guess once the Pace Car showed up, seeing other cars paled in comparison!  Perhaps we can reschedule the tour for next year, as well.

Thanks to digital photography, hundreds of great photos were taken, so many that I had a hard time tracking them all down, let alone picking just a few to post here.  They are scattered about the Internet on members' photo album pages of choice, Facebook pages, private servers and/or have links posted to them in the Reading photos & uploads thread. Thanks to all for allowing us the use of your pics.  I will be adding more (hopefully) as people get around to uploading and posting them.

We would also like to express our appreciation, once again, to the Holiday Inn, Morgantown for their patience and cooperation.  They have shown us the utmost hospitality year after year.

And a special thanks from all of us to Subaru of America for allowing the Pace Car to be shown.  In particular, we would like to thank Tom Salvino and James Han of SOA,  Joe Aquilante and Jason Lang of Phoenix Performance / SRRT and John Hoffman of the SVXWN, among others, for their efforts in making this happen.  We are truly grateful.
